I'm happy to report Marley went to his new home. He's in a wonderful home with two other, older, Chessie dams to keep him in line. It's always bitter sweet when a foster dog finds a new place to call his own. Fingers are crossed all goes well!

Marley & Me - Marley & Me... I sing this over and over to my newest foster dog who just wiggles and wags his tail with joy and happiness.
I've yet to figure out why Marley was abandoned at a local animal hospital, where he had been about 2 mos. before I found out about him. What a nice boy! Yah, he's a little underweight and has a couple of ear infections (all of which we're working on), but my gosh what a sweet dog. He's happy to roll over for a good belly rub, let me trim his nails without issue and so far is good with the other dogs.
Marely is 3 years old, neutered and up to date on all his shots. He's been heartworm tested and it came back negative! YaY, Marley!
Now, we're on the search for his perfect home. Marley will not be a good 'hunting' candidate but he'll make a wonderful pet for someone looking for a nice companion. If you'd like to learn more about Marley and how to adopt a rescued chessie, please go to www.cbrrescue.org.

Hi everyone -
As you know, CBRR&R is a non-profit organization that helps hundreds of Chesapeakes a year. All rescuers are non-paid volunteers and funding comes directly from donations and adoption fees. Without donations or adoption fees (which doesn't always cover the dogs expenses) CBRR&R wouldn't be able to do what it does.
Recently, CBRR&R was contacted about 10 abandoned Chesapeakes living in a house in deplorable conditions. It was like something you'd see on a television show or read about in a book -- 10 emmaciated and frightened Chesapeakes living in squalor, covered in urine and feces with no food or water. None of the dogs having been outside in over 3 months.

CBRR&R managed to get all 10 of the dogs to safety within foster care. However, within days of getting these dogs safe, another dreadful call came in -- 8 more abandoned Chesapeakes found in Illinois. That's 18 abandoned dogs in a week's time.
CBRR&R has no choice but to reach out to the Chessie community. EVERY dog is in need of AT LEAST minimum care ie. spay/neuter/ shots/heartworm testing etc...
Please, if you can spare $10 or $15 to help these dogs then consider making a donation on their behalf.
You can read more about the abandoned 10 here.
I thank you.

Tomorrow, Hanna leaves to go to her new home. She's such a precious dog. Her new home sure is lucky -- and so is she.
Rescuing, and fostering, Chessies is often like watching a broken flower bloom. Sometimes, it's just extraordinary the beauty they possess.
Who said rescue's don't make wonderful companions? Whoever did, never rescued a Chessie -- that's for sure.
