What's the best way to spend 4th of July?

Today Rip, Morgan and I met up with some wonderful friends - Kristin & Glen - who have been watching Trixie for the past few weeks. We, along with their friend visiting from PA, had a fabulous day!!

First, Morgan & Rip were reunited with Trixie -- who felt the need to badger her mother and brother. The puppies rip roared through Kristin & Glen's house with such excitement to see one another. Kristin & Glen got to see a whole 'new' side of Trixie as she turned into a little demon when Rip & Morgan were around.

Next, we grabbed a quick lunch at a local fast-food joint, where the pups got to indulge in a few salty fries. I know, I know, shame on us! Then, off to the beach we went!

Kristin & Glen live in the most fabulous area and it's only 5 mins. from the beach (which dogs are allowed on)!  The day was perfect.  Although it was overcast, the rain held off while we were at the beach, and there was a nice breeze. It wasn't too hot or too sunny and it helped make it THE perfect Chessie/beach outting. Of course, we'll be having LOTS of doggy dates in the future!

A huge thanks to Laura (I think that's right) Kristin & Glen's friend from PA for taking these photos and sending them along!

4 Weeks Old

The puppies turned 4 weeks old on Friday. They are all doing very well. Eyes are all wide open, teeth are all in and they are very mobile.

Today, was the first day I put them outside for the majority of the day in a puppy pen. At first, they were uncertain about the new environment but as the day progressed they became more and more confident with themselves and their surroundings.

Also, today, the puppies had their first set of visitors. First, my friends Jim & Karen Brown (both Chessie owners) came by and visited for a few hours. Karen helped me clip their nails, swap out their collars with new ones and photograph the pups. After Jim & Karen left, one of the puppy buyers stopped by with her friend and they proceed to play with the pups for a bit. The puppies loved all the attention and are becoming quite an active bunch.

Here are a few photos of the pups - more can be seen in the photo gallery

I'm really liking these puppies so far. I can't wait to see how they look, and how much they change, when they're 6 weeks old.

We love play dates...

Fran, a dear friend of mine, and fellow Chessie owner, was kind enough to allow me to bring Morgan over for the day to play and swim in her pool.  Morgan also got to play with her Chessie, Theo. Theo is a nice young Chessie with a fabulous temperament.

Morgan had a wonderful time and really didn't want to leave. I'm thinking a new pool will be installed shortly after I purchase the new house.

Fran, a wonderful photographer, took some nice photos of the dogs. Here are a couple she provided me.
